The new town hall is places in the intersection of two important directions: the first being the connection between the city and the train station, the second being the relation between the characteristic mountain formation and the lush fjord waterfront. These conditions provide an opportunity to open the new town hall to the train station, which forms a seamless connection toward the city. With its u-shaped volume. the building is formed to enhance the visual connection between the two landscape qualities of the mountain and the fjord. A new square becomes a continuation of the existing park and marks a contrast to the existing area for buses, taxies and public transport. The pronounced lines of connection are highlighted by varying surface materials which leads pedestrians toward, inside and through the new square.
