blaker residential care home

newbuild

The new care home is an extension to the existing older care home. The main idea was to create a spine with common facilities for the staff and from which the 4 nursing wards, each with 8 rooms, project out towards the surrounding forest. Between these units one finds communal gardens. They act as the private space for each ward and is accessed directly from the wards own kitchen and living room. On the opening of the building, the minister of Health, Bent Høie, praised the sense of identity and place the building gave, and how important this is when designing nursing- and care home for the local citizens. Detailed design done in collaboration with Planforum Arkitekter AS.
